Lion Ketubah
Design and Lettering by Peggy H. Davis

Lion Ketubah

This is an example of an original ketubah painted and lettered on kosher parchment, about 20 x 26" in size. Antique ketubot provided inspiration for some of the design elements. The lions are a symbol of the tribe/kingdom of Judah, the columns are a traditional ketubah motif, representing the home the couple are creating. The text in the shield shape above is the beginning verse of Eshet Khayil, A Woman of Valor. Gouache paint was used along with metallic gold ink for the top and bottom geometric forms.
